Aspen Mesa Homeowners Annual Meeting:
February 11, 2020 at the Element Hotel

Meeting called to order at 7:00. pm.

In attendance: Barbara Brett, Susan Zimmer, Pat Henry, Mark Walker, Tom Fisher, Danny Popish, Lu Ann Craig, Mary Leslie

Introduction of newest board members: Danny Popish and alternate Mary Leslie

A few words of thanks were made in remembrance of our friends Scott Leslie and Marilynn Cook. Both Scott and Marilynn passed away this past year. Both were wonderful people and served on the homeowner's board. Scott will always be remembered for his love of the area and his diligence in making sure our subdivision's water was protected. Marilynn's smile and her love for all of us will be missed.

Financial Report:
Fiscal Year end September 30, 2019: We had $96,739.49 in the bank. Receivables due were $3,334.02.
Current report dated February 10, 2020: We have $161,865.59 in the bank. We have receivables due of $17,046.17. No past due bills.
If you have past due accounts, you can expect a reminder coming at you. Please pay your bill in a timely manner.

Back Flow Inspections:
We will begin the inspections April 1. We need to finish by June 30. Please remember this is a state mandated program. The association pays for the inspection fee. If your back-flow device fails, you are responsible for replacing that and the cost incurred to do that
.

Bear Proof Trash Cans:
Nate Thomas is a local high school student working on completing his requirements to become an Eagle Scout. Working with Daniela Kohl and a generous donation from the Roaring Fork Valley Bear Coalition he will retro fit our garbage cans with 4 buckles to make our trash cans bear proof. This is free to us.
The board is finalizing details with the trash company. Look for information in upcoming meeting notes on how this installation effort will be coordinated.

Responsibility for water leaks:
This becomes and issue a couple times a year. Typically, it is an irrigation issue but sometimes it is a running toilet or a water leak in your home. You are responsible for all water used, even a leak. Inspect your sprinkler system regularly.
If people want to see the water meter usage you use, you will have to have a separate metering device added. Contact your plumber if you are interested in this.

Addition to the agenda:

Leslie Rameil - Reports that there have been reported thefts of packages left at mailboxes. She has requested this be added to the minutes:
Packages which were always delivered to our houses in the past are now left outside at our mailboxes. We need to call the post office in Carbondale and talk with the postmaster about having our oversize packages delivered to our houses, as had always been done in the past. This is especially important now that there have been several packages left at the boxes stolen in the past couple weekss.

Here's the website with USPS policy regarding oversize package delivery where rural delivery is in place (we are Rural Route #1 out of Carbondale) Please see the 7th bullet item down. Short version is packages should be delivered to the house if it's within 1/2 mile of the box. (and not left at our mailboxes on the road). https://faq.usps.com/s/article/General-Guidelines-and-Policies-for-Rural-Delivery
.

This will only happen if as many of us as possible will call and voice a concern about this. The phone number for the Carbondale Post Office is 963-3411, and you'll need to ask for the postmaster. Please don't wait until it's your package that is stolen.

Dogs on leash:
Please be in control of your dog. We don't want your dog hit. We have some roaming dogs. And clean up your POOP. The amount of dog poop along our roads is disgusting.

Feeding the wildlife:

Megan Chester gave a brief report on the effects of feeding the wildlife
Fines of $500 for offenders via the DOW.
Bears not hibernating because of the regularity of "feed" buckets being left out for deer.
Problems with animals becoming dependent on the feed and problems arise when that feed is gone and animals not being able to survive on their own.
We may think its fun and the animals need our help with food in the winter, but they don't. They were here long before us and will be here long after we are gone.

Board Member opening:
TomÕs term is up, and he would like to remain on the board. He runs unopposed and is approved to serve another 3 years. Thank you, Tom.

Drawing:
One- year free dues goes to the Fletchers.

Meeting adjourned 7:45.
Next meeting April 20, 2020 at Tom Fisher's home
